What we store about you

By default, nothing on our servers. Puzzetto has no accounts, no login and no user database. Your puzzle progress, your results, your streaks and your light or dark theme preference are all written to localStorage in your own browser. They never leave your device, and we cannot read them.

There is exactly one exception, and it only happens if you ask for it — see the leaderboard section below.

The practical consequence: your streak belongs to the browser you play in. Clearing your browsing data, using private browsing, or switching to a different device will start you fresh.

The leaderboard

When you finish one of today’s puzzles you are offered the chance to post your score. It is entirely optional and it is the only thing on this site that sends anything to a server. Ignore it and nothing about your play ever leaves your browser.

If you do post a score, three things are sent: the display name you type, your solution to that day’s puzzle — which the server checks against the real answer, so that a listed score is always a real solve — and how long the puzzle took, measured by us from your first move. A random identifier generated by your browser goes with it, so that posting a second time replaces your own row instead of adding another. That identifier is never shown to anyone, is not linked to anything else, and is erased along with everything else by the button at the bottom of this page.

We do not ask for an email address, and there is nothing to sign up to. Please do not use your real full name as a display name — the boards are public. Names are limited to letters, digits, spaces and hyphens. Scores are kept per puzzle date; a board is a record of one day.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ad Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info. Google’s own explanation of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com.

Advertising consent signals are set to denied by default and stay that way until a certified consent platform is in place, so no personalised advertising cookie is set without one. If you are reading this before ads have been switched on, no advertising script is loading at all.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand roughly how many people visit and which puzzles they play. It measures pages and visits, not people, and it is never combined with anything you post to a leaderboard.

Analytics cookies are off until you agree to them. The first time you visit, a small prompt asks; whichever you choose is remembered and nothing about the games changes either way. If you decline, Google still receives an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed — enough to count traffic, not enough to follow you.

To change your mind, clear this site’s data using the button at the bottom of this page and the prompt will appear again on your next visit.

Children

Puzzetto is a general-audience puzzle site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Clearing your data

The button below erases every Puzzetto value from this browser — progress, streaks, statistics, preferences, your saved leaderboard name and the random identifier that goes with a posted score. It cannot be undone.

A score you have already posted stays on that day’s board, because clearing your browser cannot reach it. If you want one removed, ask us on the contact page and say which puzzle, which date and which name.
